Political history in cartoon maps

I have a thing for cartoon maps. They can be extremely intricate and elaborate and seem to carry a whole zeitgeist with them into the future. One must really look into it to see what the author was saying.

1870 – Europe’s map contemporary to the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871
1877 – Words difficult to read
1899 – Words difficult to read
1900 – Russian Empire’s tentacles (further explanation)
1914 – German point of view where Germany and the Austro-Hungary Empire are attacked from all sides
1914 – Kill that eagle (further explanation)
